Frequently Asked Questions

This section answers the questions we are frequently asked. Please use the Contact us page if you have any further enquiries or if you are ready to book your drum lessons.

Q: What makes James Fallon Drum Tuition better than other drum tuition?
A: We offer professional lessons at competitive prices taught by a fun and friendly tutor. Our teaching suite is fully equipped with both an acoustic and state of the art electric kit giving you the flexibility to learn in a way which suits you.

Q: What age ranges are covered?
A: We cover all age ranges but suggest around 6 years old is the youngest age to begin learning. However, please feel free to take advantage of our no obligation, FREE 20 minute taster lesson to see if you like the lessons and are suited to them.

Q. Where is James Fallon Drum Tuition Located?
A: We are located just outside Altrincham Town Centre, close to both bus and tram routes. Parking is available. Please refer to our directions page for further details.

Q: Can I have lessons at home on my own drum kit?
A: Unfortunately not. Our studio has been set up with all the equipment needed to provide a fun, comfortable environment which is geared towards providing you with the best lesson possible.

Q: How long does a lesson last for?
A. We offer half hour, 45 minute and full hour lessons. Half-hour lessons are recommended for younger students where an hour may seem too long. James will recommend a suitable lesson length to suit your requirements.

Q: When are lessons available?
A: You can choose lesson times to suit you. Just call James and he will be happy to arrange a suitable time any day of the week. Evening and weekend lessons are available.

Q: Do you teach one-to-one or in groups?
A: We normally teach one-to-one. This allows you the full duration of your lesson on the drum kit, allowing you to get the best out of your lesson time.

Q: My Child wants lessons, but is slightly nervous. Can I sit in on the lesson?
A:Of course. We aim to make all students feel as comfortable as possible and make the learning experience as enjoyable as possible. We have areas for parents to sit in the teaching studio whilst the lesson is in progress or a small seating area just outside our teaching studio so you can be on hand if needed.

Q: Can I get a discount if I pay for a batch of lessons in advance?
A: Yes. We offer discounts on the cost of lessons if you block-book 5 or more lessons and pay in advance. Please see our Prices Page for details.

Q: Do you offer Gift Vouchers?
A: Yes. Our new Gift Vouchers make a great present for a friend or relative thinking of learning the drums. Just contact us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: You can pay however you prefer; whether it's by cash, cheque or bank transfer.

Q: What happens if I have to cancel my lesson?
A: No problem! Just give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your lesson or rearrange it for another time. If you have paid for your lessons in advance your lesson will simply roll over to the following week. If you can't give more than 24 hours notice you will be charged for the full cost of the lesson to cover lost studio time. If you forget about your lesson and don't turn up you will be liable for paying for the whole lesson. Please refer to the Terms of Booking for more information.

Q: What if I don’t have a drum kit at home? Can I still have lessons?
A: You do not need a drum kit to have lessons. If you don’t want to invest in a drum kit straight away, James can offer you advice, recommendations and suggest equipment that doesn’t cost the earth to enable you to practice at home. When you are ready to invest in a drum kit, James will be happy to provide you with advice and guidance on the best drum kit for you.
